Lesson 5
For the background, I first masked off the flowers, stems, and sticks. I wet the paper, combined Burnt Umber and Prussian Green directly onto the paper and used a plastic bag for texture. This is a painting of the Hepatica Nobilis (European Liverleaf) that is living in the shade in my back yard. As it is a spring plant, the flowers come up through the ground first and are quite beautiful. When the flowers die off, then the leaves appear and are pretty throughout the summer.
