Lesson Two

I drew the same squirrel again and this time I think I got a better face. Of course, I drew it with my favorite charcoal pencil and used the tortillon for shading. The nut in his mouth, the tree stump and his tail were all painted with my Inktense pencils. I used negative shapes for making his tail. Posted by Picasa

Drawing & Sketching - Lesson Two

What a great lesson this was. I made oodles of drawings but will just post a few of them.

This is my effort at drawing upside down. I chose a simple subject and had a great deal of fun. I decided that as I drew it upside down, I might as well paint it upside down. I really like drawing with the charcoal pencil and added color with Derwent Inktense pencils - really like them, too! Posted by Picasa

Drawing & Sketching Class - Oct 30/06

Hi, everyone. Welcome to my Blog. We have started lessons with Cathy Johnson and this is my first effort using a charcoal pencil and watercolor crayons. This little fellow was on the back page of the Birds and Blooms magazine Oct 06. I didn't get his face right, so I will have to draw him again.
I did all of the exercises for Lesson One except using pen and ink, so they will be on my next shopping list when I go to the art store.

Lesson One has started me on the road to drawing - hope you will travel along with me. Posted by Picasa
